ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former foreign minister and chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari departed for the United States (US) via Dubai to attend Donald Trump’s breakfast.

US President Donald Trump, who assumed his office on January 20, has invited Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along with several other world leaders to attend his breakfast.

Bilawal will leave for the United States after a brief stay in Dubai. After attending President Donald Trump’s breakfast, Bilwal will visit Germany.

“I will definitely go for breakfast, a practice that’s continued from my mother’s tenure. There’s a possibility of holding meetings with friends of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto there [as well].Neither I’m a minister nor a government official so this [trip of mine] is not official or as a representative of the government,” The News quoted Bilwal as saying when questioned where he will attend the Trump’s breakfast.

On January 20, Pakistan’s leadership congratulated Donald Trump for the second term extraordinary political comeback.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif congratulated him after he assumed his office as the 47th President of the US.

In separate felicitation messages, the president and prime minister extended their best wishes to the new US President.

Premier Sharif took to X to congratulate him.

“My warmest congratulations to Donald Trump on his assumption of office as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen the enduring Pakistan-U.S. partnership,” Shehbaz Sharif posted on X.

It is pertinent to mention here that President Asif Ali Zardari, father of the Bilwal Bhutto Zardari, had also attended the pre-inauguration oath ceremony of then-US President-elect Trump in Washington, DC in 2017.
