ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have registered a case over the complaint filed by a senior Bangladeshi diplomat after receiving a threatening letter and reporting harassment by unidentified individuals.

The Bangladeshi diplomat, Mohammad Ali Khalid, alleged that unknown persons have been following him, monitoring his movements, and even taking his photographs without consent.

These individuals have also delivered a threat letter at the embassy, creating a climate of fear and anxiety among the diplomatic staff, a Bangladeshi envoy said in a complaint.

The First Information Report (FIR) was registered under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the individuals involved in harassing and threatening the Bangladeshi diplomat.

“All these activities will affect the cordial relations between the two countries,” a police officer quoted the diplomat as saying. He urged the authorities to register a case, identify the culprits, and ensure they are punished according to the law.
