LAHORE: Lahore’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has rejected the bail applications of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the Jinnah House attack case, issuing a written order stating that Imran Khan is guilty of the attack.
The seven-page written ruling, issued by Judge Manzar Ali Gul, stated that as a leader, Khan’s statements have a significant impact on party members and supporters. The court emphasized that other party leaders would not oppose his directives.
The court concluded that Khan was responsible for the attack, which involved arson and vandalism targeting military installations, government institutions, and police officials while sparing private property. The prosecution claimed that the conspiracy behind the attack was planned at Khan’s Zaman Park residence.
Items of value at Jinnah House were destroyed in the fire, and law enforcement recovered petrol bombs and batons from 50 arrested suspects, though many others managed to escape. The court found no grounds to grant bail to Khan and rejected his application.
On November 27, the ATC also dismissed Khan’s bail pleas in this case and seven others, including charges related to attacks on military installations and the burning of police stations.
The Jinnah House case:
Violent clashes broke out across Pakistan after the former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan were arrested at the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Army installations and the Corps Commander’s house in Lahore, also known as Jinnah House, came under attack during a protest by ‘PTI workers’.
The protests were held in remote and major cities as the party workers were agitated due to their chairman’s arrest, with Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoning the armed forces to ensure law and order.
