LAHORE: The Punjab government Saturday launched the Green Pakistan project in Cholistan to provide modern agricultural facilities under one roof.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir inaugurated the Smart Agri Farm and Green Agri Mall under the Green Pakistan Initiative (GPI) in Chapo and Kundai areas of Cholistan.
Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain and Federal Minister for Water Resources Dr. Musaddiq Malik were also present.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Irrigation Minister Muhammad Kazim Pirzada attended the inauguration ceremony.
The government inaugurated the Green Agri Mall and Services Company, Smart Agri Farm, and Agricultural Research and Facilitation Center. The Green Agri Mall will provide farmers with quality seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides at discounted rates. Farmers can also rent agricultural machinery including drones at reduced costs.
A modern 5,000-acre agricultural farm will serve as a model for advanced farming techniques. The farm will use modern irrigation systems to reduce water consumption and costs while increasing production.
The Agricultural Research and Facilitation Center will offer laboratory services such as soil testing. It will collaborate with agricultural education and research institutions across Pakistan.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called the project a foundation for a modern agricultural revolution. She said these initiatives mark the beginning of a new era for Punjab’s farmers. She emphasised that agricultural progress ensures farmers’ prosperity and Pakistan’s development.
During the event, she also distributed land allotment letters to injured Ghazis.
Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir praised Punjab’s leadership in modern agriculture. He commended the Punjab government’s rapid progress under the Green Corporate Project. He assured that the army would continue supporting Pakistan’s economic development.
This project aims to transform Punjab into an agricultural powerhouse, ensuring sustainable growth for the sector.
