ISLAMABAD: The Armed Forces of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, and Services Chiefs paid homage to Major Muhammad Akram Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on the 53rd martyrdom anniversary.
The CJCSC and military leadership praised his courage and sacrifice for the nation.
According to military’s media wing Inter-Services Public Relations, Major Akram Shaheed led his company in East India Company in May 1971. He defended his position with bravery, halting enemy advances. On December 3, 1971, he was ordered to attack enemy positions, destroying three tanks during the operation. Despite severe injuries, he embraced martyrdom on December 5, 1971.

The ISPR further said that the sacrifices made by Major Akram remind the armed forces of his commitment to keep the nation safe. “The country takes pride in its brave sons who gave their lives for the motherland,” it added.
