The federal budget, set to be presented in the National Assembly in the next few days, is expected to include additional taxes on solar panels.
Meanwhile, reports on social media suggest that solar panel prices have already increased by 8 to 10 rupees per watt in anticipation of these new taxes.
According to some reports, the cost of solar panels has surged from Rs 42 per watt to Rs 50 or Rs 52 per watt. In various cities and shops, prices have reportedly increased by over 10 rupees, now ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 55 per watt.

However, solar panel traders have denied these reports. According to them, the price was Rs. 39 per watt last month. It increased by only Rs. 2 to 3 per watt in the last few days.
He added that with this slight increase, the price per watt rose to Rs 41 to 42. However, some media organizations reported that the price per watt had increased by Rs 8, even before the budget was announced.
Talking to a private news channel, another solar panel trader stated that the market currently has a surplus of solar panels compared to demand. He suggested that prices might actually decrease as traders attempt to sell more panels before the budget announcement.
