The Adiala Jail administration on Friday dismissed claims that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s privileges were withdrawn in prison, contradicting the party’s statement that Khan faced hardships due to inadequate facilities.
According to the superintendent of Central Jail Rawalpindi (Adiala Jail), Khan has access to all amenities specified in the jail manual, with special focus on his safety and health.
“He receives an English newspaper daily, has a space to walk, and an exercise machine to stay fit,” the superintendent stated.
The jail official further mentioned that both Khan and his detained spouse, Bushra Bibi, have been provided with a separate kitchen, and prison staff are available 24/7 for security.

Books are also available for Khan, and the jail official denied reports about an open sewer in his cell and rats in Bushra Bibi’s cell, stating, “There is no truth in these reports.”
Khan is permitted to meet with family, lawyers, and even hold political meetings twice a week. During court hearing days, he also meets those who attend the sessions in jail. The official added that Khan has a television in his cell.
This statement comes after PTI Senator Muhammad Ali Khan Saif reported to the media that Khan was deprived of various “facilities” in prison. The senator claimed that Khan was facing several difficulties and was not receiving the same privileges as former President Asif Ali Zardari and ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during their jail terms.
“Imran Khan has ear pain and isn’t being provided with an electric toothbrush or a dumbbell for exercise,” Saif noted, adding that Khan was also not allowed to speak to his sons over the phone.
