WEB DESK: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) Secretary Jamil Ahmed Qureshi has revealed a high-level Saudi delegation, consisting of representatives from 200 companies, is to visit Pakistan in February 2025.

Qureshi highlighted the growing interest from Saudi Arabia and China, which are expected to play pivotal roles in shaping the country’s future economy as per the Samaa News report.

.The delegation will investigate investment opportunities in the agricultural, minerals, energy, and leather sectors. Qureshi was positive regarding the strengthening of bilateral economic ties with Saudi Arabia as well, expecting considerable growth in the coming years.

Apart from the Saudi delegation, Qureshi also brought positive news regarding China’s increasing interest in Pakistan’s economy. Chinese companies will start exporting products from Pakistan to the United States and Europe by 2025. For this purpose, the SIFC has set up a one-stop shop for Chinese firms, providing them with access to SEZs and export processing zones. Such steps will further increase business-to-business investments, especially in textiles.

The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) remains the strong motivator for these investment opportunities, as many of the Chinese companies are undertaking their operations in Pakistan. SIFC is certain that these investments will leap up significantly by 2025, as the set of policies and strategic programs initiated under CPEC matures.

Qureshi also mentioned that the Pakistani government is working to prepare a detailed presentation regarding the second phase of CPEC, which will be presented to the prime minister this week. Discussion around the Main Line-1 (ML-1) railway project is in hand, and good news on this front is expected soon.
