PESHAWAR: At least 15 terrorists, including Afghan Taliban fighters, were killed while attempting to infiltrate Pakistan’s Kurram and North Waziristan districts from Afghanistan.
Local media reported on Saturday that a group of 20 to 25 terrorists from the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), with support from the Afghan Taliban, launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistani border posts. The attackers used heavy weapons.
Pakistan’s security forces responded swiftly and foiled the infiltration attempt. They launched a counterattack, killing over 15 terrorists and wounding several others.
The operation forced the Afghan Taliban to abandon six border posts. Reports suggest significant losses and damage on the Afghan side, with further casualties likely.
Pakistani forces reported no fatalities. Three soldiers sustained injuries during the clash.
Earlier this week, Pakistan conducted airstrikes on TTP training centers and hideouts in Afghanistan’s Paktika province. The strikes targeted operational infrastructure linked to attacks on Pakistan.
The airstrikes followed a deadly attack on a Pakistani check post by TTP terrorists, which killed 16 soldiers.

Islamabad has repeatedly urged Kabul to stop allowing its territory to harbor terrorists.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated this stance, saying, “We desire good ties with Kabul, but the TTP must be stopped from killing our people.”
The UN Security Council has also demanded that Afghan soil not be used for attacks against any country.
