KARACHI: The fourth and the last supermoon of the year, known as the Beaver Moon, will illuminate the sky tonight (November 15) across the world, including in Pakistan. The Beaver Moon will be nearly 14% larger and 30% brighter than an average full moon.

This supermoon phenomenon occurs when the moon reaches its full phase while being at its closest point to Earth, known as perigee, making it appear larger and brighter than usual.

During the celestial event, the distance between the Earth and the Moon will be 360,378 kilometers, compared to their average orbital distance of 384,400 kilometers.

Apart from that, the observers can also see the Pleiades star cluster, also known as the Seven Sisters, with the naked eye.

When to watch from Pakistan?

The Beaver Moon will appear with its peak size and brightness at 2:58 AM PST on November 16. The supermoon can be seen just after sunset on November 15.

Additionally, four planets will also be visible tonight in the sky. Mercury will appear low in the southwest after sunset on November 15 for a short. Venus will be visible as the brightest object in the southwest and the first to appear on Friday night.

Saturn will shine with a pale yellow glow in the southern sky and will remain visible until well after midnight.
