Pakistan starts growing world’s most expensive ‘Miyazaki’ mango

The cultivation of the world’s most expensive mango, the ‘Miyazaki’, has recently begun in Karachi.

Miyazaki mangoes are premium fruits highly sought after in Japan, symbolizing luxury and exclusivity. Traditionally, these mangoes are cultivated exclusively in Miyazaki City, located in the Kyushu prefecture of southern Japan. Now, Pakistan has joined Japan in producing this elite fruit.

Renowned for its unique red and purple hues, the ‘Miyazaki’ mango is a high-value fruit, fetching prices between $800 and $900 per kilogram in the international market. Locally, the price of this luxurious mango can soar to Rs 3 lakh per kilogram, making it a rare and elite commodity not easily accessible to the common consumer.

Pakistan is already famous for its diverse and flavourful mango varieties, such as Chaunsa, Sindhri, Langra, and others.
