e-Passport
An e-passport is a secure travel document with an embedded electronic chip used to store biometric information about the holder. An e-passport has a contactless (NFC) chip, allowing it to be read electronically. The newly launched e-Passports in Pakistan comply with the United Nations ICAO standards.
Application for e-passport:
The application process for the e-passport in Pakistan is the same as that for a traditional passport. The documents required for an e-passport will be similar to those for a Machine Readable Passport (MRP).
General Requirements for Passport
For 18 above
- Proof of passport payment through the original bank-paid fee challan (receipt) or e-payment confirmation details (receipt/SMS/email along with PSID No.)
- Original CNIC/NICOP with a photocopy
- Previous original passport (if issued)
- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned department
- Foreign passport along with a photocopy for dual nationality holders
- Police report mentioning the previous passport number in case of a lost passport
For under 18
- Proof of passport payment through the original bank-paid fee challan (receipt) or e-payment confirmation details (receipt/SMS/email along with PSID No.)
- Original Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form “B”) or FRC (Family Registration Certificate) or Smart Card, with one photocopy
- Original CNICs or passports of both parents, along with photocopies
- The minor must be accompanied by either a parent or a legal guardian appointed by the court, along with the original valid CNIC/NICOP of the parent/guardian
- In case parents are separated/divorced, custody papers granted by the court must be provided
- If the parents of the minor are divorced or separated, and the application for a passport is submitted by either parent
- In the case of a guardian, a guardianship certificate issued by the court is required, and the appointed guardian must visit the passport office in person with the minor, along with the guardian’s original CNIC and its photocopyForeign passport along with its photocopy for dual nationality holders
- If either parent is deceased, the original death certificate along with a photocopy must be provided
- Police report mentioning the previous passport number in case of a lost passport
