Pakistan is the third-worst country among 142 nations in terms of order, law and security as its global position is 140th, according to World Justice Project’s (WJP) Rule of Law index.

Only Mali and Nigeria were below Pakistan in this list.

Pakistan was ranked 140th, which measured three factors: crime control, protection from armed conflicts and the use of violence to resolve civil disputes.

World Justice Project’s Rule of Law index for the year 2024 shows Pakistan to have slightly improved as compared to 2023 but the country is still extremely poor in some areas.

Pakistan ranking in other areas

The report shows Pakistan’s global ranking at number 129 out of a total of 142 countries.

In the field of fundamental rights, Pakistan’s global position is 125th out of 142 countries. 

About the absence of corruption, the report shows Pakistan at number 124 out of 142 countries.

In 2024, most of the countries that were surveyed in this report do not have strong law and order, security.

The decline in civil justice has also slowed since the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, according to the report.

Between 2016 and 2024, people in 81 per cent of countries have lost protections for their fundamental rights. Additionally, 77 per cent have registered a dip in governmental checks and balances, including oversight by legislatures, courts, civil society, and the media.
