ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced contract lists for the women’s cricket players.
As many as 16 players of women team secured central contracts for the 2024–25 international season.
The contracts announced on Saturday will be effective from July 1, 2024.
Last year, 20 players signed two-year contracts with a promise that their performance will be reviewed after the 2023–24 campaign. The central contracts Anosha Nasir, Eyman Fatima,Aliya Riaz, Nida Dar, Sidra Nawaz and Shawaal Zulfiqar have not been extended.
The PCB, in the light of performance, has promoted to skipper Fatima Sana and wicketkeeper-batter Muneeba Ali to Category A. While left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal has been promoted to Category B.
Three newcomers to the list are Tasmia Rubab, Rameen Shamim, and Gull Feroza. In addition to Rameen and Gull making their first appearances on the central contract list since 2018 and 2022–2023, respectively, Tasmia has earned the contract for the first time, which marks a significant turning point in her career.
As the PCB focuses on nurturing the next generation of cricket players in line with the ICC Women’s Future Tours Programme 2025–2029, these players will still be available for selection.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmad Syed stated, “I would like to congratulate Tasmia Rubab on her maiden central contract and Fatima Sana, Muneeba Ali, and Sadia Iqbal on their well-deserved promotions on behalf of the PCB.
The return of Gull Feroza and Rameen Shamim, along with her inclusion and advancement, demonstrate our dedication to praising talent and acknowledging consistent excellence.”
He also added that the key contracts for 2024–25 are a reflection of forward-thinking approach as they get ready for the new ICC Women’s Future Tours Program.
