Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General (DG) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry on Thursday said that the Pakistan army does not have any political agenda.

He further stated that the Pakistan Army is neither against nor in favour of any political party.

He made these comments while briefing on internal security matters, counter-terrorism measures, and other related issues.

DG Sharif, while discussing the country’s economic situation, stated that the Defence Forces of Pakistan have reduced their expenses.

Addressing the militants responsible for the terrorist attacks in Balochistan, as well as those directing them, he issued a firm warning that they would be met with strict and decisive action.

Addressing the issue of accountability within the army, the DG ISPR stated that legal action will be taken against those spreading misinformation and propaganda, especially on social media.

Regarding Faiz Hameed’s case, he noted that it was referred to the army through the Defence Ministry. A high-level court of inquiry was established to investigate the Top City case before proceeding with a Field General Court Martial.

He further emphasized that if anyone uses their position in the army for personal gain or to pursue a political agenda, the army’s self-accountability mechanism will be promptly activated.

The press conference comes in response to heightened security concerns, particularly in Balochistan, following a series of terrorist attacks on August 26.
