The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has disclosed alarming statistics about WhatsApp account hacks in Pakistan, with over 1,400 accounts compromised since July 1.
According to the agency’s Cyber Crime Wing, a total of 1,426 complaints have been logged, not accounting for unregistered cases. As part of their efforts to combat this issue, the FIA has successfully restored 549 of the hacked accounts, and they have submitted a detailed report regarding these incidents to the Senate.

The agency is actively addressing the remaining complaints, with 877 currently under review. Among these, 20 cases have progressed to formal inquiries, while responses for 40 complaints are still awaited.
The FIA has highlighted the ongoing challenge of tackling cybercrime, noting that 817 complaints are undergoing verification. The surge in hacked accounts raises concerns about digital security in Pakistan, prompting authorities to enhance their measures to protect citizens from cyber threats.
