Citizens of Karachi can now apply for learning driving licences and international driving permits online, following the launch of the new digital service by Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar at the Clifton Driving Licence Branch on Saturday.

The online service aims to simplify the process for residents by allowing them to easily obtain learning licences, international driving permits, and renewals of non-commercial licences. However, international driving permits will only be issued to those who already have a valid driving licence from Sindh.

During the inauguration, Minister Lanjar highlighted that modern policing would not only enhance the image of the police but also foster a more positive relationship between law enforcement and the public. He also instructed the Karachi police chief to establish ‘model’ police stations across the city.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, who also spoke at the event, expressed that the online service was introduced to ease the process for drivers. He noted that the ability to apply from home would help reduce congestion at driving licence branches, making the system more efficient.

Memon added that traffic systems globally are now managed through advanced information technology, and this move is in line with that trend.
