A lost album from the legendary Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is set to release over three decades after it was initially recorded. Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records announced that the album, titled *Chain of Light*, was rediscovered in 2021 while relocating its archive.
Khan originally recorded the album at Real World Studios in April 1990. The album will be released on September 20, 34 years later.
*Chain of Light* includes four Sufi Islamic devotional songs, known as “qawwals,” one of which has never been heard before. Khan recorded this album while also working on his 1990 collaboration with guitarist and producer Michael Brook, Mustt Mustt.
