ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman, has said that the authority has not received any orders to suspend mobile phone services in the country for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24.

Rehman, made those comments while talking to journalists in Islamabad.

Earlier, it was reported that the government has decided to partially suspend internet and mobile services ahead of PTI’s long march to Islamabad.

According to the Ministry of Interior sources, internet and mobile services may be suspended in various districts of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.

According to sources in the Ministry of Interior, a firewall will be activated on mobile internet service from November 22. Internet service will be slowed down due to the activation of the firewall.

Sources in the Ministry of Interior further said that video and audio downloading on social media apps would not be possible. Considering the situation, internet and mobile services may be suspended at specific places at any time.
