On Wednesday federal government asserted that there is no nationwide load shedding due to a generation shortfall.
During a National Assembly session on Wednesday, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar clarified that distribution companies (Discos) are implementing load management based on losses in specific feeders, rather than a shortage of electricity generation.
The minister’s comments come as the current administration faces intense criticism over soaring electricity bills and prolonged power outages, which have been particularly severe during this summer.
Since assuming office in February, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government has grappled with numerous challenges, with the power sector being a significant issue. The Centre has faced widespread protests over persistent load shedding and excessive electricity bills throughout the summer months.
