The National Highway Authority (NHA) is exploring the introduction of a helicopter rescue service to enhance emergency response for motorway accidents. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve road safety and provide faster medical aid to accident victims.

Federal Minister for Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, emphasized the need for swift and effective rescue services during a meeting on Monday. He directed the NHA to take all necessary measures to reduce accidents on motorways and highways.

In addition to the 1122 helpline, the proposed helicopter service would offer quicker access to accident sites, ensuring timely medical assistance. The minister also instructed the NHA to compile daily reports on accidents occurring on highways and motorways.
