The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has introduced a new tiered surcharge system for electricity consumers who fail to pay their bills by the due date. The updated policy will impose a five to ten percent surcharge, depending on how late the payment is made.

Consumers who settle their bills within three days after the deadline will incur a five percent surcharge. However, if the payment is made beyond the three-day grace period, a ten percent surcharge will be applied.

Furthermore, Lahore Electricity Supply Corporation (LESCO) consumers will now have the option to receive and pay their bills online. Consumers will be able to request an extension for the payment deadline through the revenue department and pay their bills via online platforms, enhancing convenience for users.
