National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has increased the price of electricity for K-electric customers by Rs3.03 paisa per unit.

According to the notification, additional recovery from K-electric consumers will be done in December 2024 bills.

This adjustment comes as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to align electricity prices with the rising cost of energy production and distribution.

NEPRA stated that the increase is necessary to ensure the sustainability of the electricity supply and to fund infrastructure improvements. The authority has urged consumers to use electricity judiciously to mitigate the effects of the price increase.

Residents and consumer rights groups have expressed concerns over the rising tariffs, arguing that such increases disproportionately affect low-income families.

They are calling for more transparency in the pricing mechanism and greater efforts to improve the efficiency of the electricity distribution system.

Separately, The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a reduction of Rs0.86 per unit in electricity prices as part of the August monthly fuel adjustment.

This price cut will be reflected in consumers’ bills starting in October, providing much-needed relief amid rising energy costs.

According to NEPRA, customers who have already received their October bills will see the reduction applied in their November statements
