NDMA warns of multiple heatwave spells in May and June

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) has warned of multiple heatwave spells in May and June.

The NDMA stated that Umarkot, Tharparkar, Tindullah Yar, Matiari and Sanghar will experience severe heat. In its advisory, the authority warned of the possibility of heatwave in Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts.

From May 15 until May 31, temperatures are expected to increase to 40 degrees. According to the advisory, the first spell of heatwave will persist for up to three days.

The second spell is expected to be longer than the first one, lasting for up to five days at the end of the ongoing month. Furthermore, June is predicted to be much hotter than May.

NDMA, in its advisory, stated that the third spell of the heatwave is expected during the first 10 days of June, with temperatures predicted to reach 45 degrees. This spell will last for 3 to 5 days.

The National Disaster Management Authority has strongly advised to take precautionary measures during this time period.
