The National Cyber Emergency Response Team (CERT) has issued an urgent advisory for government institutions to remain vigilant in the face of a coordinated phishing email campaign that is targeting their email systems.

According to the advisory, clicking on fraudulent links embedded in these phishing emails could lead to significant compromises of official documents. Attackers are reportedly exploiting IP addresses and cloud infrastructure to specifically target government employees.

The CERT’s advisory highlights that the attackers are using deceptive email addresses to infiltrate government communications

The phishing links are being utilized to steal usernames and passwords of government employees, posing a serious threat to cybersecurity.

In response to these ongoing threats, the National CERT has recommended that government institutions, ministries, divisions, and their subordinate entities enhance their cybersecurity measures to prevent potential attacks. They are urged to increase their email security protocols and handle official documents securely.

“All government organizations, ministries, divisions, and attached departments must remain vigilant and adopt the recommended security practices. Phishing campaigns continue to evolve, and strong technical, procedural, and user-level defenses are critical to maintaining the integrity of government communication systems,” read the advisory.
