WEB DESK: ‘Gentleman,’ the latest hit drama starring Humayun Saeed, marks the actor’s return to television after a four-year hiatus. In the show, Saeed plays Iqbal Munna, a local from Korangi known for his unexpected innocence. Fans have drawn parallels between his character and the beloved Munna Bhai from the 2003 Bollywood film ‘Munna Bhai MBBS,’ portrayed by Sanjay Dutt.
In a recent conversation with co-star Yumna Zaidi, Humayun Saeed acknowledged the similarities, revealing that his role was intentionally written to resemble Munna Bhai by writer Khalilur Rehman. Yumna added a hint of mystery, saying, “Maybe,” suggesting that the story holds more surprises.
Saeed also discussed Ahmad Ali Butt’s character, Dilbar, who is seen as Munna’s faithful companion and compared to Circuit from ‘Munna Bhai MBBS.’ Saeed hinted, “Wait for the fifth episode; you’ll get the answer then. You gotta watch it.”

Yumna assured fans that the story’s progression would clarify these comparisons. She stated, “I think it’ll make more sense after the next episode. As the show goes on, I believe people will stop comparing and noticing these similarities. We’ve already moved past it ourselves.”
Addressing criticism over the portrayal of “gundagardi” in Korangi, Saeed defended the show, explaining, “There aren’t real gangsters like we’ve shown in Korangi. It’s all make-believe. We tried to make it as real as possible in this fantasy world. We even thought about setting it in a made-up place, not Korangi. But we went with Korangi, and even then, it’s harmless.”
