ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Hammad Azhar emerged back into the public eye on Wednesday after nearly a year of keeping a low profile.
As soon as Hammad Azhar appeared in public, a large contingent of Islamabad police arrived at the central secretariat of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to arrest him. However, PTI leaders managed to evade arrest successfully.
According to the secretariat staff, Hammad Azhar had left for Peshawar just 30 minutes before. Police officers inquired further from the secretariat staff.
Azhar, who previously served as finance minister under the PTI government, had withdrawn from public view following the government’s crackdown on the party leadership last year in response to the events of May 9.

“After the recent attack on Rauf Hassan, I received a message from Imran Khan last night instructing me to resume my role within the party leadership,” Azhar stated upon his appearance at the party’s central secretariat in Islamabad today.
“I’m here to meet with Rauf Hassan first. Following that, I’ll proceed to Peshawar to pursue interim bails and request further time. I’ll also make appearances in Punjab courts, leaving the outcome to a higher power.”
