According to a private news channel, a tragic incident occurred in Gujranwala where a man allegedly killed his younger brother over a dispute related to a high electricity bill.
The police have taken the accused into custody and have begun investigating the case. According to the authorities, the confrontation escalated when the accused attacked his brother with a sharp-edged instrument.
Surveillance footage from the scene shows the brutal attack, with the accused using the weapon on his brother as their sister attempted to intervene and diffuse the situation.
The police are currently examining the evidence and conducting interviews to understand the full context of the incident.

Electricity Prices in Pakistan
Pakistan has experienced an unprecedented rise in the basic electricity tariff over the past two years, reaching Rs25.76 per unit, as reported by official sources.
This increase includes a fixed surcharge of Rs3.23 per unit. Between July and October 2022, the basic tariff rose by Rs7.91 per unit.
This was followed by an additional Rs7.50 increase in July 2023, along with the implementation of a fixed surcharge of Rs3.23 per unit. Another increase of Rs7.12 in the basic tariff occurred in July 2024.
As a result, the basic electricity tariff for domestic consumers has now reached Rs48.84 per unit.
