‘Making TikTok videos requires hard work’, CM Maryam hits back at trolls amid budget session

LAHORE: In a highly charged budget session of the Punjab Assembly, Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz outlined the provincial government’s accomplishments and future plans amidst vocal opposition protests.

The session, overseen by Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan, saw participation from both government and opposition members.

“Our extensive achievements in the first 100 days of our administration cannot be fully covered in a single speech,” CM Maryam began her address.

Highlighting a historic milestone, she announced, “We have presented the largest budget in the history of Pakistan and Punjab.” Notably, this budget introduces no new taxes on the people of Punjab.

As Punjab’s first female Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz also stressed  the reinstatement of essential medicines in hospitals, which had previously been halted under the PTI government.

She further claimed, “Inflation is at its lowest level in many years in the province.”

Despite the opposition’s sharp criticisms, CM Maryam remained resolute, asserting, “We will defeat the opposition with our performance.”

In response to the PTI’s critiques regarding her development work videos, she remarked, “It takes hard work to make TikTok videos. Those who do work, make TikTok [videos].”

The budget session is set to continue in the coming days, with further discussions and debates on the provincial government’s plans and initiatives.
