Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has received an Achievement Award from the UK Parliament, celebrating her role in promoting women’s empowerment and representing Pakistani culture internationally.
The award was presented at a special ceremony held at the House of Commons, with British Parliament member Afzal Khan as host. The event had respected and known attendees like Pakistan’s High Commissioner (HC) Dr. Sarah Naeem, Chairman of the Labour Asians Society Atta Haq, Minister for Trade and Investment Shafiq Shahzad, and Labour Asians Society co-chair Manish Tiwari, along with other public figures who came to support Mahira’s achievements.
Mahira shared the honor with her fans on Instagram, captioning it, “Grateful. So, so grateful.”
While speaking on stage, she reflected on her journey in the field and how empowering women has always been central to her work in the entertainment industry. She also emphasized the importance of breaking down barriers for future generations of women, hoping they will face fewer challenges than she did.
She further shared a personal milestone, revealing that she was the first woman in her family to travel abroad alone. Her studies at Santa Monica College and the University of Southern California helped her grow and become independent, experiences that played a crucial role in shaping her career.
After the ceremony, Mahira thanked her family for their unwavering support, including her parents, brother, and son. She also took the opportunity to highlight that many other Pakistani artists are equally deserving of such recognition, demonstrating her support for her fellow industry members.
