The federal government has appointed Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti as the new Chairman of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC).
This long-pending appointment was confirmed by the President of Pakistan, following the recommendation of the Prime Minister.
Currently commanding the Multan Corps, Lt Gen Satti will take on this new role after of his retirement in November. His leadership is expected to bring fresh direction to the FPSC, which is responsible for overseeing public service recruitment and examinations nationwide.

The FPSC Chairman also leads the Central Selection Board (CSB), which plays a key role in recommending promotions for senior bureaucrats from BPS-19 to BPS-21.
The position had been vacant since the previous chairman, appointed in July 2023, resigned shortly after being inducted into the federal caretaker cabinet.
In the interim, the commission’s operations have been managed by one of its members. The chairman’s appointment is governed by Article 242(A) of the Constitution, requiring approval from both the President and the Prime Minister.
