The highly anticipated film Love & War, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has faced a significant setback as the shooting schedule has been postponed for two months due to severe rain damage to the set in Mumbai.
The delay affects the film starring Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, pushing the commencement of production to either late November or early December 2024.
According to a report from Bollywood Hungama, the filming for Love & War was originally slated to begin this month but has encountered difficulties due to adverse weather conditions. A source close to the project revealed that the construction of the film’s set had been hindered, sustaining damage from the recent monsoons. Consequently, the team will require additional time to repair and complete the set.
The delay, while unfortunate, has afforded Bhansali the opportunity to refine the script and enhance the film’s music. The source noted that the director plans to conduct more workshops with the lead actors, allowing for a deeper exploration of their roles.
In a notable move, Bhansali has chosen to self-finance the project, following a model similar to that employed by major studios such as Yash Raj Films and Red Chillies Entertainment. Earlier reports indicated that even before filming commenced, Bhansali had secured a substantial post-theatrical deal with Netflix and a significant music partnership with Saregama.
Love & War marks the second collaboration between Bhansali and both Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor. Bhatt previously starred in Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), while Kapoor made his Bollywood debut in Bhansali’s Saawariya (2007). For Vicky Kaushal, this project will represent his inaugural collaboration with the renowned director. The film is currently slated for release on March 20, 2026.
