Shah Rukh Khan is set to take on the role of an assassin in Sujoy Ghosh’s much-anticipated film King, which will also mark the first time the Bollywood superstar shares the screen with his daughter, Suhana Khan.

The film, which has already generated significant buzz, promises to be a thrilling drama packed with suspense and high-octane action. Sujoy Ghosh, known for his mastery of mysterious thrillers, is excited to direct what is shaping up to be one of his most ambitious projects.

The news hints that King will see Shah Rukh Khan reprise the kind of action-packed, morally ambiguous role he is known for in films like Jawan and Pathaan. Fans of the star will be particularly excited to see him return to playing a “baddie,” reminiscent of his iconic 90s performances in Baazigar, Anjaam, and Darr.

Khan himself fueled speculation about his return to darker roles during the Locarno Film Festival in August 2024. At the festival, he hinted at his evolving approach to playing villains, saying, “I think I have a new way of playing a bad guy.” This comment has now gained traction, especially after reports confirmed his role in King.

King ensemble cast

King will also feature a strong ensemble cast, with Abhishek Bachchan playing the main antagonist. Suhana Khan, in her first major film role, and Munjya fame actor Abhay Verma will also be seen in key roles. With a blend of family intrigue, intense action, and Shah Rukh Khan in a thrilling grey-shaded role, King is set to become one of the most highly anticipated films of the year.
