Actress Maryam Nafees has recently made the decision to refrain from collaborating with the controversial scriptwriter Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar. “I have chosen not to participate in any TV dramas penned by Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar,” she expressed during a television appearance, elucidating her stance. “This decision stems from divergent beliefs rather than a lack of acknowledgment of Qamar’s talent. I aspire to engage in projects that align with my personal values.”

Nafees articulated concerns regarding Qamar’s portrayal of women in his dramas, despite acknowledging his proficiency. She is committed to advocating for women’s rights and believes that her involvement in Qamar’s projects may not support this cause effectively.

Qamar has frequently engaged in confrontations with actresses and female analysts due to his misogynistic remarks. Actress and former supermodel Iffat Umar recently took a stand against him, refusing to engage and openly criticizing Qamar for his narrow-mindedness and bitterness. This clash highlights the growing frustration within the industry regarding Qamar’s controversial statements and his treatment of women.

During a television appearance, Qamar dismissed the experiences of Sana Hayat, the winner of Miss Pakistan 2022, igniting further discussions about gender equality and respect within the entertainment sector. Many women in the industry are reluctant to collaborate with him, believing that his beliefs and comments hinder the progress and representation of women.
