LAHORE: Controversial writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, known for his dramatic scripts, was recently abducted after being honey-trapped by a woman. At a press conference on Monday, Qamar revealed that doctors have advised him to avoid sunlight due to health issues, which is why he met the woman late at night.
Journalists at the press conference questioned the timing of Qamar’s meeting with the woman. Police officials explained that as a writer, Qamar often works during nighttime hours. Qamar, addressing the media, confirmed his health condition, stating, “Doctors have instructed me to avoid sunlight for the next five years. Regardless of my health, it’s common practice for me to schedule meetings late at night, with both men and women. I have met with people as late as midnight numerous times.”
The playwright, known for “London Nahi Jaunga,” further elaborated that the woman had been persistently requesting a meeting for the past 15 days, which he finally agreed to at 4:40am.
The Lahore Police, in their investigation, revealed that Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar was abducted and robbed after being honey-trapped. A senior police official disclosed to a local newspaper that nine suspects, including two women, were detained following Qamar’s complaint filed with the Sundar police station on July 20.

According to the first information report (FIR), Qamar received a call from a woman named Amina Urooj, who invited him to her residence in Bahria Town to discuss a drama project. Qamar recounted in his complaint, “I was sitting with the woman when someone knocked on the door, and she told me it might be a delivery boy as she had ordered some food.”
However, seven armed men then entered the room, forcing Qamar to surrender his belongings, including his car keys and mobile phone. The suspects compelled him to reveal his ATM PIN and withdrew Rs267,000. Qamar was subsequently forced into a car, subjected to physical and emotional torture, and abandoned in a deserted location.
A committee has been formed to further investigate the matter and bring the suspects to justice.
