WEB DESK: Mariah Carey is known as the queen of the holiday season, with her iconic hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” dominating the charts every December. This year, however, BTS member V has momentarily dethroned her on one key Billboard ranking.

V’s ‘Winter Ahead’ outshines holiday classic

V’s new solo single, “Winter Ahead,” featuring South Korean singer Park Hyo Shin, debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Holiday Digital Song Sales chart. The seasonal duet outpaced Carey’s holiday classic, which drops to second place this week.

According to data from Luminate, “Winter Ahead” sold 10,300 copies in the US during the past week. In comparison, Carey’s evergreen hit sold 3,200 copies—roughly one-third of V’s total.

New holiday contender

The success of “Winter Ahead” doesn’t stop there. The track also debuts on the Holiday 100 at No. 62, a chart that ranks the most popular seasonal songs. Additionally, the song lands on the Hot 100 at No. 99, marking V’s fifth career entry on the prestigious list.

Beyond the holiday charts, “Winter Ahead” conquers Billboard’s Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks the top-selling songs across all genres. This marks V’s second solo No. 1 on the list, replacing Shaboozey’s long-running leader “A Bar Song (Tipsy).”

Carey’s seasonal reign

While Carey’s track temporarily slips on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” continues to dominate elsewhere. The song has already climbed back to the Hot 100 summit and remains a seasonal favorite across multiple rankings.
