LONDON: Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’s viral song “Bado Badi” was removed from his YouTube channel and other platforms on June 6 due to copyright claims, although it remains accessible on the Vital Music channel, amassing millions of views.
The singer-comedian has responded with a clarification, asserting that his rendition of “Bado Badi” is not a copy of the iconic song released 50 years ago. In a YouTube video addressing his fans’ concerns, Khan acknowledged their messages and calls urging him to restore the song. He assured them of his efforts to do so.

Explaining the distinction, Khan pointed out that the original song by Noor Jahan was titled “Akh Ladi Bado Badi”, whereas his version is named “Hai Hai Oye Hoye Bado Badi”. He emphasised that beyond two similar lines, his composition is entirely different.
“I have conducted thorough research and am confident that my song does not violate any copyrights,” Khan affirmed.
Expressing disappointment over the removal, Khan criticised the action as unjustified, suggesting those responsible “had nothing better to do.” He underscored that while Noor Jahan’s rendition was for a male, his interpretation is aimed at a female audience.
The original song, performed by Noor Jahan for the 1973 film Banarsi Thug, was composed by Bakhshi Wazeer Sahib.
