In preparation for the upcoming Eid ul-Azha celebration, the Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended the business hours for markets in Lahore.

During the hearing of smog related petitions, Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court permitted markets to remain open until 12 am on the occasion of Eid ul-Azha.

Furthermore, the provincial apex court has ordered that markets be allowed to operate until 1 am on weekends. Moreover, the court has mandated the reopening of the Bagh-e-Jinnah water channel.

A report from the Punjab Food Authority was also submitted to the court.

The first day of Eidul Adha 2024 in Pakistan is expected to be on June 17, Monday. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to convene in Karachi today at the Meteorological Department office to sight the Zilhajj moon.
