LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has released Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) activist Sanam Javed from a case in Gujranwala, citing insufficient grounds for her continued detention.

A two-member bench, led by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal, heard Sanam Javed’s petition on Wednesday. In her plea, Javed challenged the physical remand issued by the Gujranwala Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), asserting that she was being unfairly targeted through politically motivated cases.

Javed claimed that she had been repeatedly arrested in new cases immediately after being released from others, arguing that the legal actions against her were driven by political motives. She requested the court to dismiss the case, stating that the ongoing prosecution lacked merit.

The public prosecutor, however, countered that Javed was implicated based on statements linking her to incidents of arson on May 9, which are currently under investigation. Despite these allegations, the court ruled in favor of Sanam Javed, discharging her from the Gujranwala case.
