LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) is considering banning illegal housing societies from selling plot files, as discussed during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

During the meeting, the chief minister sought details of all illegal housing schemes operating in the provincial capital from the civic agency. Moreover, participants mulled over banning illegal housing projects in Lahore from selling plot files.

Chief Minister Maryam directed LDA Director General Lt (R) Tahir Farooq to submit a report on the matter within 15 days.

How to identify illegal societies in Lahore

Lahore has seen a spike in the number of illegal housing schemes over the past years. Many of these illegal housing projects do not have required approvals from the LDA, and often lure citizens to invest in their non-existent developments.

To prevent citizens from investing in these fake projects, the LDA has compiled a list of approved and unapproved housing projects in Lahore. The full list can be viewed here.

Citizens are advised to invest in a housing project or plot after confirming its status from the LDA through the website or via the helpline.
