Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and Punjab Agriculture Marketing Regulatory Authority (PAMRA) have signed an agreement to build Pakistan’s first modern vegetable and fruit market in Lahore.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the signing ceremony and instructed authorities to finish the project within 18 months. The new market will cover 300 acres in the Kala Khatai area of Lahore.

The market will feature world-class infrastructure and is expected to become an export hub. It will be easily accessible for traffic, with routes connected to GT Road Gujranwala and the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. To further facilitate transport, metro and speedo bus services will be extended to the market.
Furthermore, cold storage facilities will be built to ensure a steady supply of key vegetables, such as tomatoes and onions, keeping them available at affordable prices.
During the event, CM Maryam Nawaz also spoke on the International Day of Democracy, praising the efforts of democratic leaders like Nawaz Sharif. She highlighted that democracy is essential for Pakistan’s growth and the well-being of its citizens.
