LAHORE: The Air Quality Index (AQI) of Lahore continued to remain in the ‘Hazardous’ category on Wednesday, with the city retaining its title as the most polluted in the world.
The AQI of Lahore, home to more than 14 million people, was recorded at 1115 at 9 AM on today, according to the Global website on pollution, Air Quality Index (IQAir).
The day before, the AQI in Lahore, the country’s second largest city, was recorded at 509.
The air quality in Lahore, dropped to the worst levels on Earth, with pollution levels up to 22 times higher than is deemed healthy. On the air quality index, “healthy” is 50 – last week Lahore’s air quality soared above 1073.
This marked the worst air quality in the country for the day.
An AQI below 50 is considered good ‘moderate’ between ’51 and 100′, ‘unhealthy for sensitive group’ at ‘101 and 150’, ‘unhealthy’ at ‘151-200’, very unhealthy at 201-300, 301 and above is ‘hazardous’.
