Keir Starmer vowed to rebuild Britain as the new prime minister after Labour achieved a landslide victory in the parliamentary election on Friday, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.
The center-left Labour Party secured a vast majority in the 650-seat parliament. Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives faced their worst defeat in history, as voters held them accountable for the cost of living crisis, deteriorating public services, and multiple scandals.
The election results have dramatically altered British politics. Labour gained around 410 seats, an increase of 210. At the same time, the Conservatives, historically the most successful party in the Western world, lost approximately 250 lawmakers, including many senior ministers and former Prime Minister Liz Truss.
