The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police have started a crackdown at the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) jirg venue taking action against participants and securing the area.

According to the details, security forces will take control of the venue and the mobile network has been shut down in the city. Police has resorted to heavy tear gas shelling to disperse the protesters,

Earlier on Sunday the federal government officially banned the PTM under Section 11B of the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.

The Ministry of Interior’s notification cites the party’s activities as “prejudicial to peace and security” as grounds for the decision, listing PTM as a proscribed organisation.
