PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has taken the decision to contest the Peshawar High Court (PHC)’s order regarding the assembly session by appealing to the Supreme Court (SC).
According to media reports, following approval from the provincial cabinet through a circulated decision, the government intends to file a petition on Monday in the SC against the PHC ruling, which mandated the convening of the provincial assembly session.

The minister highlighted a perceived inconsistency in the high court’s directive, noting that while it instructed the government to convene the assembly session, it also asserted that the governor lacked the authority to summon such a session. Until the Supreme Court renders a decision on the matter, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government affirms it will not convene the assembly session.
