The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB) has launched the KP Digital Internship Program, a flagship initiative designed to equip 150 graduates annually from universities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) with professional skills to enhance employability.

Focused on Computer Science (CS) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) graduates, the program offers a six-month internship aimed at preparing participants for the demands of the ICT industry.

The program, a key project of KPITB, aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing hands-on training in IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) companies, as well as in government departments. Through this initiative, graduates are expected to contribute to the sustainability and growth of IT companies in KP’s IT parks in Peshawar and Abbottabad, while developing their own technical, managerial, and corporate skills.

Fostering economic growth through skills development

The KP Digital Internship Program not only aims to enhance individual career prospects but also to promote economic prosperity in the province by generating job opportunities and supporting local businesses.

“Our goal is to build a pool of IT-competent professionals who will meet the industry’s growing demand for skilled human resources,” said a KPITB spokesperson.

In addition to supporting companies through human resource assistance, the program is expected to increase revenue generation for IT parks in KP, promote entrepreneurship, and reduce the disconnect between academic qualifications and industry requirements.

The initiative serves as a platform for graduates to develop vital skills while making valuable contributions to the organisations they join.

Eligibility and application process

To be eligible, applicants must hold a domicile from KP or the Merged Districts and have graduated within the past three years or hold a course completion certificate. Those with post-qualification work experience or prior recipients of the KPITB Digital Internship are ineligible to apply.
