According to ISPR, Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Ameer and his three relatives were safely and unconditionally released due to the efforts of tribal elders and local dignitaries.
Sources indicate that the Afghan government also played a key role in the release of Colonel Khalid and the abducted brothers. Besides Colonel Khalid, his two brothers and a nephew were kidnapped. All the abductees have safely returned home.

Moreover, it is noted that a few days ago, Colonel Khalid, who had come to Dera Ismail Khan to attend his father’s funeral, was abducted by armed individuals while he was sitting in a mosque after the funeral prayers.
Furthermore, a video released two days ago showed Colonel Khalid and one of his brothers requesting assistance from authorities for their release. In the video, Colonel Khalid Ameer stated that they were safe and in good health, but were being held in a remote area where the Pakistani government had no control.
