Agra court in Uttar Pradesh has sentenced the kidnappers of Harsh Garg, who was abducted 17 years ago, to life imprisonment.
Moreover, the verdict was delivered by Additional District Judge Neeraj Kumar Bakshi a week ago, despite the kidnapping incident occurring back in 2007 when Harsh was taken from outside his home.
Now a 24-year-old lawyer, Harsh Garg fought for justice after being abducted on February 10, 2007. His father, Ravi Kumar Garg, was shot at while trying to intervene during the kidnapping. The abductors demanded a ransom of ₹5.5 million, but police rescued Harsh from Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, after 26 days.

Following the incident, eight individuals were arrested, including Gudan Kachhi, Rajesh Sharma, Raj Kumar, Fateh Singh (alias Chhaga), Amar Singh, Balveer, Ram Prakash, and Bhim (alias Bhikari). All were sentenced to life imprisonment and fined ₹100,000 each, although four other suspects were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
Expressing his satisfaction with the ruling, Harsh stated, “We are happy that justice has been served, which restores our faith in the judicial system.” To ensure accountability, he pursued a law degree and graduated in 2022, actively participating in the legal proceedings. On September 17, 2024, he delivered closing arguments in court, emphasizing the importance of convicting his abductors.
