On Sunday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif accused the opposition of siding with terrorists instead of supporting the country, as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly opposed the operation “Azm-e-Istehkam”.
The government, led by Shehbaz Sharif, announced a new counter-terrorism operation on Saturday. This operation aims to leverage the full strength of the nation’s resources—military, diplomatic, and legislative—to intensify efforts against militants.
The Central Apex Committee on National Action Plan (NAP), which included top officials from all provinces, approved the operation. Among those present was Ali Amin Gandapur, the PTI-backed Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
This decision follows a significant rise in terrorist attacks across the country in recent months, resulting in numerous civilian and security personnel casualties.
