Pakistan Post is set to digitise all its post offices, including those in Karachi, by the coming year, as part of an automation initiative aimed at improving service efficiency.
Postmaster General (PMG) Karachi, Maqsood Ahmed Baloch, announced that this modernisation drive will also introduce night post offices in every district of Karachi, offering 24/7 services.

Karachi currently hosts 179 post offices, including the General Post Office, though 15 smaller offices were recently closed due to financial losses. Staff from these closed branches will be relocated to other offices as needed.
Baloch added that Pakistan Post is a key public institution, offering a range of services such as parcel delivery, money orders, and expedited document services. The first phase of computerising major post offices in Karachi is underway, and the automation project will ultimately enhance service delivery.
Pakistan Post employees are being trained to operate the new systems, ensuring the public receives modernized services. The agency is also positioning itself to compete with private courier services, having revised its business strategy to focus on revenue growth and service expansion.
Furthermore, Pakistan Post is venturing into the e-commerce sector to broaden its service offerings.
